Hello 2020!
Aren't we a little late in welcoming you to 2020? Well, as they say, better late than never. We've been down with the flu for the past week thus the tardiness of this post which was meant to come way earlierrrr so everyone please, keep yourself hydrated with lots of fluids and all the good vitamins!
We are quite sad to bid the December festivities goodbye and pack away our Christmas tree but what is awesome about living in this part of the world (we are in sunny Singapore!) is that the next festival is always around the corner! Hurrah for a country that celebrates multi-cultural holidays and embraces all diversities!
We are heading into the Chinese New Year holidays come next Saturday (for those in the dark, the first and second days of the Chinese New Year are on 25th and 26th January respectively) and what this means for some of us is the season of spring cleaning and shopping for new clothes and accessories as per the Chinese traditions. It is believed that spring cleaning in preparation for the New Year brings good fortune; wearing new clothes and accessories, symbolises new beginnings.
Here at The Cord Co, we are also doing abit of spring cleaning ourselves. Our Jet Black, Aqua Arctic, Jubilee Lilac and Ruby Red (just added!) phone slings are going on sale! It is a good opportunity to pick up your phone sling or another to accessorise your outfits.
We are all for the traditions and we love to incorporate touches of red in our homes and accessories (yup, under garments too :p) to bring in good fortune and joy. In view of the approaching Chinese New Year, we want to share the love and so, we have just added our Ruby Red phone slings to the sale. They are going at 15% off (S$18.70, U.P. S$22) till 9 February 2020. This could be the element of red in your outfit this year to invite all the good fortune and joy in the year of the Rat.
Ruby Red Phone Sling
Personally, I do not ever buy red clothes (just not my thing) and would definitely be switching out my everyday Jet Black phone sling to Ruby Red for Chinese New Year for that huat-ness! I am also happy to report that I've picked out my Chinese New Year outfits early this time round! It is more like I did excessive shopping during the 11/11 and Black Friday sales so what I have still not worn would become my new year's outfits (pretty sure I am not the only one around here doing this...)! But boy, our local labels have outdone themselves this year, so many pretty pieces for the CNY launches! What are your favourite local brands/labels to shop at these days?
What else do you do leading up to Chinese New Year? Chinatown is always lively during this time of the year and the bazaar is going on from now till 24 January. We might pop by to get a few decorations for our homes!

Wishing you the best 2020 ahead!
